Primary Purpose:
Direct and manage the District's Instructional Technology and Library Services programs. Provide leadership in instructional technology integration, digital learning, library services, instructional materials management, and innovative instructional practices to support high-quality teaching and learning experiences for all students and staff. Ensure equitable access to instructional materials, digital resources, emerging technologies, information literacy resources, and professional learning opportunities aligned to district goals.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree (in Education, Library Science, or Technology-related field preferred)
Valid Texas teaching certificate required
Principal or comparable administrative certification preferred
Candidate must have a satisfactory outcome of the fingerprinting check/background check
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of instructional technology integration and digital learning platforms
Knowledge of library and information science
Knowledge of purchasing, bidding, and contracting procedures
Ability to develop and deliver professional learning for staff
Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to support and lead district-wide instructional innovation initiatives
Knowledge of emerging technologies, digital citizenship, and artificial intelligence applications in education
Ability to analyze program effectiveness and implement continuous improvement processes
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in instructional leadership, digital learning, instructional technology, library services, or supervisory/administrative role
Experience in educational technology and/or public-school library services
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Oversee and implement a comprehensive districtwide digital learning program aligned to instructional goals, student needs, and the Technology Applications TEKS, while also supporting and coordinating library services across the district.
- Provide leadership in integrating instructional technology and digital learning resources across the district.
- Support the implementation and effective use of instructional software, digital platforms, online resources, and emerging technologies.
- Develop and oversee a districtwide evaluation process for digital learning and library programs and implement improvements based on data and feedback.
- Coordinate the selection, acquisition, processing, and management of library materials, digital resources, and instructional technology tools.
- Collaborate with curriculum and instructional staff to support high-quality instruction and student engagement through technology integration.
- Design, coordinate, and deliver professional learning opportunities for teachers, librarians, instructional staff, and administrators.
- Support campuses in the implementation of digital citizenship, media literacy, and responsible technology use.
- Provide leadership in the implementation of artificial intelligence tools and innovative instructional practices while ensuring ethical and appropriate use.
- Develop and administer departmental budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations and responsible stewardship of funds.
- Oversee inventories and systems for library materials, digital resources, and assigned technology equipment.
- Maintain districtwide textbook inventory and oversee the ordering, management, and reconciliation of instructional materials through the TEA EMAT system.
- Serve as the district project lead for virtual school initiatives, including coordination of digital learning systems, compliance requirements, instructional supports, and program implementation.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local policies and procedures related to library services, instructional materials, and technology integration.
- Collaborate with campus administrators and district leaders to ensure library and digital learning programs support instructional priorities.
- Maintain awareness of current trends, research, and best practices in instructional technology, library services, digital learning, and educational innovation.
- Coordinate district initiatives related to digital learning, instructional resources, and library services.
- Develop reports and presentations related to departmental initiatives, program effectiveness, compliance, and long-range planning.
- Establish partnerships and maintain collaborative relationships with educational organizations, vendors, public libraries, and community stakeholders.
- Demonstrate professionalism, ethical behavior, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Performs any other duties assigned by the appropriate supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Direct and supervise the work of campus librarians, library aides, instructional technology staff, and assigned personnel.
Evaluate job performance of assigned staff in accordance with district procedures.
Provide coaching, support, and professional growth opportunities for assigned staff.
