Community Recovery Liaison
Compensation Hourly: $18.00/hour; 20 hours/week. This position is Part-time and does not offer benefits.
Key Functions and Responsibilities
Liaison and Communication: Facilitate effective communication and coordination among judges, attorneys, probation officers, law enforcement, treatment providers, local schools and other community agencies.
Assessment and Case Planning: Conduct comprehensive screenings and assessments to determine an individual's specific needs (mental health, substance use, housing, employment, etc.) and develop a tailored case plan for specific individuals seeking or court ordered to seek treatment for SUD and/or OUD.
Resource Coordination and Referral: Identify and connect clients with appropriate community-based services, such as medical care, housing, education, employment assistance, and counseling.
Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor client compliance with court orders, probation requirements and treatment plans, tracking their progress and providing detailed monthly progress reports to the courts and to SWHRA.
Advocacy and Support: Advocate for treatment alternatives to incarceration and assist clients in navigating the complexities of the legal system. They may attend court hearings with the client to provide support and information.
Documentation and Administration: Maintain thorough and accurate client records and case notes, manage court documents, and enter data into state and local databases (e.g., TN-WITS).
Court Appearance: Regularly attend court hearings, staff meetings, and conferences to provide information and updates to the court and SWHRA.
Training and Education: May assist in coordinating or providing training to local schools, law enforcement, court personnel, and other SWHRA staff on behavioral health issues, crisis intervention techniques, overdose prevention techniques, and SUD/OUD trends and statistics.
Typical Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or a related behavioral health field is preferred; however, a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Experience: Relevant experience in case management, behavioral health, or the criminal justice system is typically necessary. A Certified Peer Recovery Specialist is encouraged.
Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of mental health and substance abuse issues, community resources in Tennessee, judicial proceedings, and relevant confidentiality regulations (HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2).
Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team; and effective decision-making abilities.
Other Requirements: A valid driver's license with an appropriate endorsement is required for travel to various locations (jails, courts, community agencies, client homes, rehabs, schools).
