Job Title: Nurse Home Visitor
In this role you will:
During visits, NHVs use the nursing process to support the family in obtaining goals for themselves and their children. Typical assessments and screenings include blood pressure, infant growth, and feeding, parent-child interactions, intimate partner violence, substance use, mental health using PHQ-9 & GAD-& tools, infant development with Ages & Stages Questionnaires, and sensory screenings using OAE & SPOT machines. In response to assessments, nurses utilize interventions such as education, therapeutic communication, Motivational Interviewing, and community referral.
New NFP nurses receive rigorous onboarding and continuous education to support them in developing the skills necessary for success in such a unique role. This includes an initial one-week training at the NFP National Service Office in Denver, CO. Nurses attend weekly Team Meetings, Case Conferences with mental health consultation, and Reflective Supervision.
Nurse-Family Partnership is a national, evidence-based home visitation model. Program goals include improving outcomes in the following areas:
- Pregnancy & birth
- Child health and development
- Economic self-sufficiency

What it takes:
- Registered Nurse license eligible to practice in Arizona.
- Basic Life Saving certified.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) at full professional proficiency is preferred.
- Possess an insured and reliable vehicle.
- A valid US state driver’s license.
- Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card - OR - must qualify for a valid Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Able to walk upstairs with bags (laptop, infant scale, sensory screening equipment).
- Comfort with providing family-centered, evidence-based education related to vaccination and family planning.
Qualifications that set candidates apart from the crowd
- Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree, or currently enrolled in an RN to BSN program
- At least one year experience in the fields of obstetrics, pediatrics, or community/public health working with underserved populations
Experience
