Administer nursing care to patients in an efficient, safe, and courteous manner using appropriate nursing procedures. The Same Day Care (SDC)/Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nurse must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in surgical services. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. The nurse must be clinically competent to care for patients, knowledgeable about surgical processes and can identify complications. Evaluates, plans and implements nursing care for the surgical patient population functioning in a Same day care and PACU nurse role . He or she must have the ability to utilize information technologies to meet patient needs and provide evidence-based knowledge at the point of care to improve health outcomes.
Nursing Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Associate degree required, bachelor degree preferred.
- Current state Registered Nurse Licensure, within state of Colorado.
- Excellent knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology and operative technique specific to cases currently performed in the surgical services department by working in collaboration with the surgeon.
- 1 year experience in Acute Care Nursing preferred.
- Current BLS certification.
- Current PALS certification
- Current ACLS certification
- Peri-Operative Registered Nurse (AORN) perferred.
Language Skills:
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Skills:
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Strong communication skills
