What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ambulance Operator (PRN/RELIEF) position at Southwest Health System, Inc.?
Provides transportation for sick or injured individuals to medical facilities for treatment. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Operate SHS owned ambulances and other department vehicles as directed, including driving to and from medical emergencies as part of the ambulance transportation team. Perform appropriate field procedures utilizing CPR/First Aid skills such as attaining and documenting vital signs, bandaging, splinting, lifting patients into ambulance and assisting EMTS as directed. Maintain and inventory emergency ambulance supplies, equipment, and routine vehicle parts.
Regulatory/Educational Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Current certification in CPR.
- Must obtain certifications First Aid & Emergency Vehicle Operations Course "EVOC" within one month from date of hire.
- Must obtain certifications in Emergency Medical Responder "EMR" within one year of employment or enrolled in approved EMT course.
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license, with continued clear driving record.
Language Skills:
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Skills:
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Strong communication skills.
