Southwest Health and Human Services currently has Public Health Educator in our Slayton or Marshall office location.
Southwest Health and Human Services (SWHHS) is a multi-county agency committed to strengthening individuals, families and communities by providing quality services in a respectful, caring and cost-effective manner.
Position purpose: This position will implement effective community-based health promotion strategies primarily in nutrition, physical activity and tobacco with a focus on policy, systems and environmental change. This position is needed to advance wellness initiatives related to students, adults and older adults. Duties include community engagement, building partnerships, conducting presentations, meeting facilitation, assessment, strategic planning, policy development and implementation, evaluation and providing consultation and assistance to individuals and groups in one or more of these settings: community, school, work site and healthcare.
Minimum Qualifications:
· A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university with a major in health science, public health, nursing or behavioral or social science, or a related degree.
Preferred Experience:
· Knowledge of public health practice and implementation
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Experience working with diverse populations
· Self-motivated and ability to work independently
· Experience in building community relations and partnerships to make change
· Experience in assessment, planning and health equity
· Strong public speaking skills
· Ability to facilitate groups and meetings
