Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Estimator to join our construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects, ensuring all aspects of the project are thoroughly evaluated and budgeted. Your expertise will help drive successful project bids by analyzing blueprints, managing material costs, and collaborating with clients and vendors. Responsibilities
- Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately estimate project costs.
- Develop detailed estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services using estimating software such as HeavyBid or equivalent tools.
- Manage the entire estimation process from initial review to final bid submission, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors to negotiate pricing and secure optimal terms.
- Utilize construction management software and spreadsheets to track costs, update estimates, and manage project budgets effectively.
- Conduct material cost estimating by interpreting blueprints and technical drawings to determine quantities and requirements.
- Assist in reviewing contracts, managing cost control measures, and supporting project management teams throughout the construction lifecycle.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry.
- Strong proficiency with estimating software such as HeavyBid or Bluebeam; familiarity with Xactimate is a plus.
- Excellent blueprint reading skills coupled with the ability to interpret technical drawings accurately.
- Solid knowledge of construction management software, spreadsheets, Microsoft Office Suite, and cost management tools.
- Demonstrated ability to estimate material requirements from blueprints and manage project budgets effectively.
- Effective negotiation skills paired with excellent client communication abilities.
- Construction site experience and understanding of construction processes are highly desirable.
- Knowledge of contracts, project management principles, and estimation for commercial projects is essential.
- Also willing to train as an internship, someone still in school.
