What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, LNG Plant position at Southwest Gas?
The Manager/Liquefied Natural Gas Plant is responsible for managing and directing the operation and maintenance activities of the Great Basin Gas Transmission Company (GBGTC) or Southwest Gas Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Plant to ensure safe, reliable natural gas supply required to meet the needs of its customers during peak system demands in compliance with established regulatory rules and regulations and Company policies and procedures. The Manager has overall responsibility for developing, implementing and updating the plant's policies and procedures; researching, specifying and purchasing equipment and materials; and training and qualifying plant personnel. Specifically, the Manager must have knowledge of the thermodynamic principles involved in liquefying, storing and vaporizing natural gas. The Manager must have a solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and cryogenic systems required to operate and maintain an LNG plant.
QUALIFICATIONS
There are precedents and practices which the incumbent uses as guidelines to evaluate equipment, material, and training requirements to determine how this job is performed. This position requires five to eight years of relevant work experience, a high degree of self-direction, motivation, autonomy, and decision-making skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage department operations in support of LNG Plant system requirements to ensure quality, productivity and safety standards are met to ensure safe, reliable natural gas supply is provided to customers
- Ensure that the LNG Plant achieves operational requirements for reliable liquefaction and vaporization processes
- Ensure LNG Plant technicians receive and meet the necessary operation, maintenance, safety, security and fire-fighting training to meet all Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Southwest Gas and GBGTC requirements
- Review and approve documentation of all operations, maintenance, and training activities to demonstrate compliance with applicable codes, standards, policies and procedures
- Develop and determine appropriate actions required to ensure safe, reliable and cost-effective operation and maintenance of the LNG Plant
- Identify, research and analyze changes in rules and regulations impacting plant operations to ensure compliance
- Prepare the three-year budget; adding capital items deemed necessary to maintain proper plant functions
- Oversee the preparation and participation in the annual DOT and biannual FERC audits
- Direct, motivate, train and evaluate staff members
- Coordinate public liaison training with the fire department and public safety agencies
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
The Manager/LNG Plant is required to be on-call and must be readily available to respond to emergencies at the plant and/or in the local distribution system service area.
SALARY DETAILS
$120,009- $180,015
