JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Lifestyle Supervisor, Senior Living Activities Coordinator creates a positive environment and provides enrichment opportunities for residents to enjoy the highest possible quality of life through meaningful engagement. This position is responsible to plan, organize and implement a wide range of activities and events that supports the mission of Village On The Isle. The Activities Coordinator is a servant leader who interacts with all staff, residents and family members in a manner that is respectful and collaborative.  This is a safety sensitive position.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensures that a variety of activities and programs are planned to meet the needs and interest of the independent residents and ensures that these services are fully implemented.
  • Ensures that a master calendar of events is maintained and that activities scheduled are coordinated/do not conflict with other services.
  • Maintains bulletin boards for common areas and media services (Internal channels/community App).
  • Assists Chaplain, as requested, in coordinating memorial, worship or special event services.
  • Works with team members to implement new activities including internal and external events and functions to create an enriching environment for residents.
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely information about events, trips and activities are maintained in a format that is most effectively communicated to our residents, families, and staff.
  • Flexible work schedule as required, which includes nights, weekends, or holidays when applicable.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.

  • Thinking critically; defined as reading, understanding, and taking appropriate action on detailed and complex information
  • Walking long distances regularly
  • Lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs
  • Repetitive actions/motion of one or both hands
  • Hearing ordinary conversation and office sounds
  • Verbal and written communication in person, on the phone/PC

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is conducted primarily in health care facility. There is possible exposure to communicable diseases and blood and body fluids that may contain HIV and/or HBV. This position frequently requires working within strict deadlines, under stressful conditions and with a variety of personalities, who may at times be emotional.

Village On The Isle is a not-for-profit continuing-care retirement community affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  We are committed to sharing God’s love by promoting individual growth and dignity, enhancing the quality of life, and meeting the human and spiritual needs of our residents, staff, and community.  It is not a requirement to be Lutheran to work at Village On The Isle.

 

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to develop, create and implement programs, activities, and lectures with creative out-of-the-box thinking.
  • Two or more years of experience in event planning, recreational management, or related field; preferably working with the independent living senior population preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills required.
  • Computer literacy which includes, but is not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, social media platforms and a community technology application preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, task-oriented and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously is required.
  • Must possess ability (or have a willingness to learn) to set up, maintain and run basic A/V equipment, Community App, and social media outlets (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) required.

Salary : $17 - $20
