What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dentist position at Southwest Community Health Center?
Summary: The Dentist shall be responsible for the overall clinical management and activities of their patients. Collaborates with the Chief Medical Officer on the overall function of the Dental Department.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties are subject to accommodation in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Shall diagnose and treat all patients presenting for care with malfunctions of the teeth and gums related to oral structures.
- Examines patients to determine nature of condition, utilizing x-rays, dental instruments, and other diagnostic tools.
- Provides preventive dental services to patients.
- Responsible for all follow-up care and referrals required for the patients receiving dental services.
- Follows all guidelines outlined in the Dental Infection Control Protocol Book and will participate in any SWCHC Infection Control Committee meeting as required.
- Serves as a consultant to all Dental Department staff; including faculty and students at the University of Bridgeport FONES School of Dental Hygiene while they are on clinical rotation at SWCHC
- Follows procedures and policies outlined in the Dental Department’s Standards of Clinical Practice Book.
- Participates in staff meetings; quality assurance programs; case conferences and all meetings as required.
- Other related duties as assigned.

- CPR/BLS Certified

Education and/or Experience:
- Currently licensed to practice dentistry in the State of Connecticut.
