Southwest Christian School is seeking qualified applicants with experience in providing quality care to our students for the 2026-2027 school year.
The part-time schedule is Monday-Friday during the school year, from 10:15 AM - 1:15 (lunch monitoring) and 2:00 PM - 3:35 PM (after care services).
Position Summary
The School Aide supports the daily operations of the elementary school by providing a safe, nurturing, and well-supervised environment for students during lunch periods and before- and after-school care. This role is essential in promoting positive student behavior, fostering social development, and ensuring the well-being of children outside the classroom setting. School Aides actively monitor students, facilitate structured and unstructured activities, and assist with transitions throughout the day. They model respectful and caring interactions while upholding school policies and procedures. The ideal candidate is dependable, attentive, and enjoys working with elementary-aged children in a collaborative school community. All employees are expected to demonstrate patience, humility, integrity, and kindness while performing the day-to-day duties of the role and to prayerfully work with administration, faculty, students, and families to develop and maintain a school which is distinctively Christian, academically excellent, and globally minded.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, and before- and after-school care to ensure safety and appropriate behavior
- Assist with the setup and cleanup of lunch and activity areas; ensure spaces used are kept neat and orderly
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages cooperation, kindness, and respect
- Support structured activities such as games, homework time, crafts, or quiet reading
- Monitor student arrivals and departures, ensuring proper sign-in and sign-out procedures
- Address minor behavioral issues using positive behavior management techniques and refer concerns to the Care Services Manager when necessary
- Respond appropriately to accidents or emergencies following school safety protocols
- Communicate effectively with teachers, administrators, and parents as needed
- Uphold confidentiality and adhere to all school policies and procedures
Requirements
Educational & Experience Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have valid driver's license and consistent, reliable transportation
- 2-3 years of providing care for school-age students preferred
- Be a self-starter and perform duties of the position with little supervision; dependable and patient

- Demonstrates the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train up a child in the way he should go” (Proverbs 22:6)
- Recognizes the role of the parents as primarily responsible before God for their children’s education and commits to be a partner in that endeavor
- Possesses the ability to work gracefully with parents, students, and other school staff to develop a unified and successful educational program
- Cooperates with administrators, department chairpersons, and other school leadership to implement policies and procedures as they pertain to the daily operation of the School
- Follow Matthew 18 principle in dealing with conflict with parents, staff, and administration
- Demonstrates the ability to accept and carry out responsibilities and make competent, professional decisions
- Eagerly participates in professional development activities and the evaluation process with a desire to grow professionally, spiritually, and personally throughout the career in education
- Maintains a professional personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and is in accordance with school policy
Work Environment
The work environment at Southwest Christian School is consistent with a typical school setting. This is an active role where the employee works both indoors and outdoors in occasionally unpredictable temperatures to monitor playground activities, attend programs and field trips, or move between buildings. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate but may become loud occasionally. The employee is frequently required to interact with others within the school community, including parents and other caregivers.
