A Teller provides service to bank customers by conducting appropriate transactions and meeting the needs of customers by referring them to appropriate departments in the bank with a friendly and caring attitude.
Essential Functions
- Greet every person as they enter the branch.
- Answer basic customer inquiries regarding interest rates, service charges, and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies.
- Receive checking and savings deposits: verify cash and endorsements, receive proper identification for cash back, and issue receipts of deposit.
- Examine checks deposited and determine proper funds availability based on regulation requirements and complete Hold Notices.
- Cash checks: verify endorsement, receive proper identification, and ensure validity.
- Identify counterfeit currency.
- Refer customers to the proper department for issues that cannot be resolved on the teller line.
- Issue cashier’s checks.
- Accept loan payments: verify payment amount and issue receipts.
- Close accounts when requested.
- Follow procedures for removing accounts for dormancy.
- Balance drawer daily, including periodic batching of cashed checks.
- Process cash advances redeem U.S. Savings Bonds. Maintain appropriate currency logs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Understanding of customer confidentiality and office security.
- Attention to detail and with a high level of accuracy.
- Problem recognition and implementation of decisions based on policy and proceduresof the bank.
- Competency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Cash handling or sales experience.
- Customer service experience.

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of being in a stationary position and working on a computer.

- Must be capable of ascending and descending stairs in an emergency.
