The Campus Reach Neurodiversity Internship Program is designed for neurodiverse individuals with autism spectrum disorder. This tailored program will provide valuable work experience, career coaching, and mentorship. From the time an application is submitted, to the end of the summer internship, students will be supported to fully showcase and grow their strengths, abilities, and potential.

The Intern will work as Software Engineer Intern within the Technology Department. The Intern will have the opportunity to join our Customer and Commercial Amadeus Integration and Altea Gateway Services Team OR our Technical and Ground Operations Concourse Team.
Customer & Commercial
Amadeus Integration and Altea Gateway Services: This is an exciting new project with AIS migrating to the Cloud. Thie Intern will have opportunities to learn and design the direction for the future of AIS.
Technical & Ground Operations
Concourse Team: This is a group of highly motivated Team members that get to do work that directly impacts the Company and our operations. We take pride in our Intern program and really work to create a welcoming environment that supports learning and productivity. You'll have an opportunity to work on a Team that has hundreds of years of airline experience and will get to work on some of the highest priority projects that support our Employees and Customers in the airports that we serve.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Software Engineer Intern may include but are not limited to:
Analyze, design, write program code, test, document, and implement functionally appropriately, technically sound, and well-integrated application systems in accordance with Customer requirements, and organizational methodologies and standards.
Respond to production problems and implement immediate resolution efforts across technology areas.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
You must have a valid U.S. Social Security Number to complete the full hiring process.
This position requires authorization to work in the United States as a permanent employee without sponsorship now or in the future.
Education:
Progress toward undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or Information Technology, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Business, or similar degree required.
Minimum Sophomore status. May not have an undergraduate graduation date of May 2024 or prior, unless already enrolled in a part-time (minimum of 6 hours) or full-time graduate degree program at time of application
To be eligible you must be currently enrolled as a full-time or part-time student (minimum of 6 hours) as defined by your university at the time of application
Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application
Knowledge, Skills, Work Style and Abilities:
Exposure to Agile methodologies preferred.
Classroom and/or industry experience with the full software development life cycle preferred.
Classroom and/or industry experience with system and acceptance criteria preferred.
Classroom and/or industry experience using at least one programming language.
Classroom and/or industry experience using Object Oriented Programming (Java) preferred.
Exposure or experience with AWS preferred.
Classroom and/or industry experience using JavaScript, JSON, XML, HTML, and CSS preferred.
Classroom and/or industry experience React preferred.
Previous internship or work experience as a Software Engineer within the past 12 months preferred.
Involvement in Software Development clubs a plus.
Basic knowledge of development methodologies, practices, concepts, technologies and technical options
Demonstrate programming aptitude and ability for logical and abstract thinking.
Facilitate or complete Analysis, design, and programming of viable solutions to high complexity business problems according to user specifications.
Ability to stay organized and manage multiple and concurrent assignments under tight deadlines.
Works well in a culture that is open, direct, respectful, courteous, and compassionate.
Time Commitment and Pay:
Required: Full-time 40hrs a week
This internship is remote. Relocation to Dallas, TX is not required.
Must maintain a consistent weekly schedule during normal business hours at a max of 8hrs per day
Program Dates: May 21st - August 9th, 2024
$30 per hour $1,000 one-time stipend paid on first paycheck

As an Intern, you can expect to:
Join Southwest as a Summer 2024 Intern, with a 12-week internship lasting from May 21 to August 9, 2024.
Work fully remote, with opportunities to connect with your Team and other workgroups virtually and potentially to travel to visit our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX.
There is limited group of states or localities ineligible for Employees to regularly perform their workoff-site. Those ineligible locations are Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota,Vermont, West Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming.
Dedicate 40 hours each week to your internship responsibilities and tasks. If selected, you'll work with your Leader to determine your work schedule.
Receive hourly pay of $30 and a one-time $1,000 stipend on your first paycheck.
Receive free, unlimited space available travel privileges for yourself (taxes and fees may apply on international travel).
A Job Coach will be available as a resource to support you during the interview process, as well as throughout the internship.
Interns will be provided any required equipment, such as a laptop, for the internship.
