What are the responsibilities and job description for the Indirect Tax Accountant position at Southwest Accounting Resources, Inc?
As an Indirect Tax Specialist, you will report to the Indirect Tax Manager and support the corporate office by preparing sales/use tax returns, property tax returns and unclaimed property tax returns.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and file multi state sales/use/property and unclaimed property tax returns
- Post Journal Entries and reconcile tax related General Ledger accounts
- Perform research and organize guidance relative to sales, use, property tax
- Coordinate any audits conducted on Company records by governmental agencies
- Plan, direct, and execute various indirect tax projects, including technology improvement to increase process efficiencies
- Perform indirect tax research to support Company decision making process
- Monitor existing and emerging tax law changes and assess the impact on the Company
Education, Skills, Experience Needed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or significant Indirect Tax experience.
- 1 year of experience in a broad range of indirect tax and other non-income tax processes
- Knowledge of state-specific filing requirements and tax notices
- Strong communication skills with ability to discuss tax topics and present the information to others such that they are able to understand
- Experience working in SAP preferred
- Strong Microsoft Office skills: Microsoft Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint
- Good leadership and project management skills
