Southside Virginia Community College, a comprehensive community college, is seeking a full-time 9-month faculty member for the 2nd year of the Associate Degree Nursing Program. The successful candidate must be committed to our mission to provide quality education to a diverse constituency.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Teaching 15 credit hours (day, evening, and/or weekends) per semester
- Work at locations served by the college, including didactic and clinical instruction, as well as
- student advising.
- Classes taught may be a combination of day, night, and/or weekends and may be located on or off campus
- Teaching instruction in classrooms, clinical learning environments, and laboratories.
- Participating in professional activities
- Mentoring adjunct instructors
- Program development and assessment
- Assisting in the documentation necessary to meet accreditation standards for the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and standards for the Virginia Board of Nursing.
- Teaching second-year students in the Nursing Program
- Meeting all clinical partner requirements is an essential function of the job
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- BSN with current enrollment in the MSN program. Must earn MSN within 2 years.
- Must hold a current unencumbered Virginia nursing license (or ability to obtain a Virginia license before employment.
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience in the area of responsibility.
- Requires familiarity with current Virginia State Board of Nursing guidelines.
- Must possess the ability to work effectively with a culturally and educationally diverse student population.
- Competency in and dedication to the use of instructional technologies is required.
- Candidates must possess sufficient technology skills to work productively in an organization that utilizes significant information and instructional technology resources.
- Demonstrated teaching skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- An understanding of the community college environment and mission.
- Teaching experience at the college level.
- Community college teaching experience.
- Experience working in an ACEN accredited nursing program.
