Packaging Technician I

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor/FSQA Manager/Supvervisor, packages all raw and smoked products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Cuts and packages processed products.
2. Uses shrink machine to wrap packages
3. Labels all packages according to USDA guidelines
4. Weighs and prices all packaged products
5. Boxes all products and prepares them for shipping
6. Operates the packaging machine.
7. Weighs and prices product
8. Produces raw product according to USDA
9. Sanitizes and maintains packaging equipment 
10. Cleans and sanitizes the packaging area according to USDA
11. Observes safety and security standards.

QUALIFICATIONS 

Education and/or Experience

One to two years’ of food manufacturing experience preferred

Food Handler Certification required...Southside can assist you in obtaining this

Language Skills

Ability to understand English for all job-related circumstances.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, using whole numbers.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, he/she is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.  He/she is regularly required to reach with hands and arms.  He/she must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Exposed to heat and cold temperatures throughout the work day.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
