We are seeking a dedicated Behavioral Interventionist to provide daily behavioral support. The ideal candidate has experience or training in ABA strategies, strong relationship skills, and a calm, student-centered approach.
Position Overview
The Behavioral Interventionist will provide individualized support to a student in academic, social, and behavioral areas. This position includes implementing behavior strategies, reinforcing skill-building plans, collecting data, and partnering with the special education team to promote progress toward IEP goals.
This role does not require BCBA supervision, but ABA familiarity is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
⭐ Direct Student Support
Provide consistent support throughout the school day (classroom, specials, transitions).
Implement ABA-aligned behavior strategies, reinforcement systems, and visual supports.
Use proactive, positive behavior supports and trauma-informed practices.
Support communication, self-regulation, and academic engagement.
⭐ Implementation & Collaboration
Follow individualized accommodations, supports, and IEP service plans.
Collaborate with the special education teacher and school leadership to adjust strategies as needed.
Support generalization of skills across settings and routines.
Assist with environmental modifications, visuals, and structured routines.
⭐ Data & Documentation
Collect simple progress and behavior data as directed by the special education team.
Document observations and trends to inform ongoing instructional adjustments.
⭐ Schoolwide Contribution
Reinforce SouthSide’s SHARK values and positive behavior systems.
Participate in professional development including SEL, MTSS, ABA strategies, and de-escalation techniques.
Help maintain a supportive, inclusive classroom culture.
Qualifications
Required
Experience working with children, preferably in school or autism support settings.
Ability to follow structured plans and accept coaching.
Strong communication, patience, and professionalism.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and composure.
Preferred
ABA training or experience implementing ABA strategies.
Experience supporting students with autism.
CPI or crisis intervention training (or willingness to be trained).
