Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role located in Petersburg, VA, for a Financial Opportunity Center Coach. As a Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) at SCDHC, you will help low to moderate income families boost earnings, reduce expenses, and make appropriate financial decisions that lead to asset building through an integrated service model approach. The centers provide individuals and families with services across three critical and interconnected areas: employment coaching, financial coaching and access to public, private and employer benefits.
What You'll Do
- Provide one-on-one financial counseling and coaching, engaging clients in long-term relationships that promote financial stability and proactive money management.
- Conduct comprehensive financial assessments, including budgeting, credit reports/scores, balance sheets, and net worth analysis, and develop personalized action plans.
- Support clients in improving budgeting, building credit, increasing net worth, and accessing employment, benefits, and other supportive resources.
- Connect clients to additional agency services such as homeownership education and foreclosure prevention, as well as external referral partners.
- Track client progress, outcomes, and success stories using Salesforce and the Combined Financial Assessment (CFA), ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
- Collaborate closely with the Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) team to document updates related to employment, benefits, and financial progress.
- Conduct financial education workshops as part of outreach efforts, including job readiness and community-based classes.
- Develop or adapt workshop materials on topics such as budgeting, savings, banking products, credit building, and identity theft.
- Build and maintain relationships with local financial institutions and community organizations to expand referral networks and access to appropriate financial products and services.
Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver financial counseling in a culturally responsive and client-centered manner.
- Experience working with low to moderate income families or demonstrated ability to effectively engage diverse individuals and families.
- Solid understanding of personal finance concepts, including budgeting, asset building, and credit building.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams.
Preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution preferred.
Pay: $48,000.00 - $53,000.00 per year
