Volunteer Coordination

General Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Volunteer Coordination
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers for school events, classroom support, and extracurricular programs
- Organize and lead monthly meetings and champion committee endeavors
- Research and develop new programs to meet the ongoing needs of SCS coupled with the changing landscape of volunteer resources
- Maintain an organized system for volunteer tracking, scheduling, and communication including online training resources and information portal
- Create a sense of community among SCS volunteers, achieved through frequent communications to volunteers, maintaining an accessible and welcoming office open to volunteers, intentional and frequent expressions of gratitude for volunteer service, and inclusion of all parents who wish to serve by finding service opportunities that match areas of giftedness
- Ensure volunteers comply with school safety and background check procedures
- Provide oversight, coordinate monthly meetings, and support for the following programs:
- Host Family Program (welcoming new families), maintaining a database of participant families
- Moms in Prayer | Sabre Dads
- Deck the Halls Committee
- Executive Committee
- Fabulous Friday Committee
- Sabre Swag Wagon
- Build and maintain partnerships with local businesses and community organizations
- Represent the school at community events and work with leadership to plan school-wide outreach initiatives
- Attend Chamber of Commerce and other community group meetings and events as a representative of Southside Christian School
- Sabre Swag Shop- build community awareness of the SCS brand through Swag Shop merchandise
- Identify and pursue sponsorship opportunities with local businesses and organizations
- Create sponsorship packages for events, fundraisers, and school programs
- Maintain ongoing communication and recognition for sponsors
- Maintain a database of alumni contact information
- Plan and coordinate alumni events, communications, and networking opportunities (Homecoming, campus outreach, alumni reconnects, etc.)
- Create monthly Alumni newsletter
- Engage alumni in mentoring, volunteering, and giving initiatives throughout the year at SCS
- Maintain and update Alumni social media pages
- Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ; be involved with an evangelical, protestant church of like faith and practice; and agree with the philosophies, Statement of Faith and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School. Willing to enroll your eligible children at Southside Christian School.
- Must be able to articulate and promote the mission and vision of SCS to volunteers, sponsors and the community
- Effective verbal and written communication skills. Should be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences
- Attention to detail. Should be able to develop and maintain accurate written materials
- Be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Be proficient with Google Drive (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms)
- Must have a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related field
- Exceptional organizational skills and precise attention to details
- Meticulous time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly and appropriately
- Highly enthusiastic, showing excitement, passion, and energy toward tasks and goals
- Exceptionally motivated to produce high quality work and take initiative on projects and tasks
