Role Description The Landscaper is a full-time, on-site role based in Newport, OR, responsible for the daily upkeep and enhancement of the Association’s outdoor areas. This role includes maintaining lawns, shrubs, trees, and flowerbeds through mowing, trimming, pruning, weeding, mulching, planting, and seasonal clean-up. The Landscaper will install, monitor, and repair irrigation systems to ensure efficient water use and healthy plant growth. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with basic landscape design improvements, maintaining pathways and common areas, safely operating landscaping tools and equipment, and reporting any maintenance or safety issues. The role involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions while collaborating with other staff and following established safety and environmental guidelines.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Landscape Maintenance and Landscaping, including routine care of lawns, plants, and outdoor common areas.
- Practical experience with Gardening tasks, such as planting, pruning, weeding, and seasonal garden preparation.
- Knowledge of Irrigation systems, including installation, adjustment, troubleshooting, and basic repair.
- Ability to support Landscape Design efforts, such as layout planning, plant selection, and aesthetic improvements.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, hand tools).
- Capacity to perform physical work, including lifting, bending, and extended periods of outdoor activity.
- Attention to detail, reliability, and ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety practices; prior experience in residential or HOA settings is beneficial.
Applicant must be able to lift 50lbs and feel comfortable wearing a backpack blower. One year landscaping experience is required; however, we will train all functions of the job.
This is a permanent position starting at $17/hr at 32 hrs/wk Monday through Friday. There may be times that require more hours.
Background checks and drug screen is required prior to employment. Must have valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
