What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Technician position at Southport Eye Care?
We are looking for a motivated and energetic person to join our team at Southport Eye Care!
The Ophthalmic Technician provides clinical and administrative support to the Provider to collaboratively ensure the delivery of high quality, compassionate care to all patients.
Essential Job Functions:
The essential functions for the position include:
- Greet patients
- Obtain and document past medical and surgical histories, chief complaint, history of present illness (HPI), and vital signs
- Reconcile and document patient medications and allergies in the EHR system
- Perform preliminary ophthalmic work-up, including Visual Assessment, Confrontational Visual Field Testing, Pupil Assessment, Tonometry, Keratometry, AR, Pachymetry, , Ishihara (Color) Plate Testing, Stereo Testing,
- Assist the Provider with patient examination, treatment, and in-office procedures as needed
- Respond to patient questions and prescription refill requests via phone, fax or the EHR messaging system
- Perform Insertion and removal training
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
