Position Summary:
The Safety Director serves as the senior leader for our health, safety, and environmental programs, setting the strategic direction for site-specific safety initiatives across multiple projects and offices. This role is responsible for building and overseeing company-wide safety policy, managing a team of safety managers and field staff, driving subcontractor compliance, leading incident investigations, and serving as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies. The position offers significant executive-level exposure and the opportunity to shape a robust safety culture while partnering directly with senior project leadership and ownership.
Qualifications:
- 10 years of safety experience, preferably within the heavy civil construction industry on complex, large-scale projects (highway, bridge, water/wastewater, transportation infrastructure), including experience managing a safety team.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Management, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification required; OSHA 500 (Trainer Course) preferred.
- CPR / First Aid / AED Certification required.
- Strong knowledge of Texas OSHA, MUTCD/TCP, and DOT regulations as they apply to heavy civil and transportation construction.
- Proven track record developing and implementing safety programs across multiple heavy civil job sites, including earthwork, concrete/paving, and utility operations.
