Field Engineer

Southland Holdings company is currently accepting resumes for a highly motivated Field Engineer to join our team in Lake Charles LA/Vinton LA/Beaumont TX Area.

This position requiring 0-2 years' with heavy civil general contractor experience.

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Receive, review, forward and track status of submittals
• Assist in management of project permit process
• Assist is preparation of bid packages and procurement
• Receive and review change orders
• Assist more senior civil engineers with entry level engineering tasks
• Assist with performing onsite construction administration and construction observation services including reporting/monitoring contractor's compliance with contract documents
• Evaluates change order requests including design changes, specifications and drawing
• releases and reports status
• Evaluates submittals of shop drawings, material data and samples and takes appropriate action based upon contract specifications
• Reviews and processes as-built drawings to ensure that all changes during the course
• of construction are recorded
• Completes project close out requirements in accordance with contract documents
• Coordinates meeting agendas, prepares minutes and follows up on action items
• Maintains effective and professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers
• and contractors
• Executes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
  
  

Qualifications:

• Construction/related degree with 1-3 years construction experience/heavy civil general contractor experience.
• Transportation experience is highly preferred
• Ability to speak English and Spanish is a REQUIREMENT
• Excellent computer skills and analytical ability
• Experience working with Primavera P6, AutoCAD. Understanding of industrial construction process
• Must have ability to interpret contract specifications and drawings. Knowledge of contract procedures and principles
• Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment
• Ability to understand construction logic and sequencing of complex projects
  
  

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering

Relevant experience can waive degree.
