What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Intern position at Southland Entertainment?
The accounting intern at Southland Entertainment will work closely with the senior members of the accounting team on core functions in the department, gaining valuable hands-on experience across our companies in a variety of industries. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, professional, driven, and interested in developing real-world accounting skills.
What You’ll Do On a Typical Day
- Assist with month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, Accounts-payable, document organization, property tax preparation, bank reconciliations and more
- Learn accounting systems, such as Yardi and S.M.A.R.T.
- Engage and communicate effectively with other professionals throughout the organization, and see how the accounting/finance puzzle comes together
- Participate in team meetings and projects, contributing to initiatives that impact the business and solve real problems
- Build, update, and organize spreadsheets and reports that actually get used
What You Need To Succeed At Southland Entertainment
At a minimum, you’ll need:
- High school diploma or equivalent, and currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other relevant business discipline
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present clean, organized and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience
- Solid organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
- High energy work style with a drive to succeed and learn
- Self-motivated with ability to take direction and work with limited supervision
- Interact and communicate within a team environment; able to consult with team members and management as needed
