Southland Construction, Inc. is a general contractor providing vertical, heavy highway, and utility construction services in Florida since 1977. Southland has employed as many as 205 full time experienced people with a wide variety of talents second to none in the construction industry. We perform services for both public and private clients with jobs ranging from $200,000 to $100 million.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Building wood and metal forms
- Erection and wrecking of all forms
- Setting and tying steel
- Pouring and finishing concrete
- Knowledge of use of hand/power tools
- Interpreting blueprints Comply with Southland’s Safety Policies and Procedures

Required Experience
- Prior experience in bridgework required
- Comfortable working at heights and performing physical tasks (climbing, lifting, bending, stooping, kneeling)
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Able to work under physically demanding and variable conditions
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather, including extreme heat and cold
- Flexible schedule and ability to work overtime as needed
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, and crouch for extended periods throughout an 8 hour workday
- Frequently lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Maintain manual dexterity for operating hand tools and concrete vibrators for long durations
- Navigate and perform tasks on uneven or rough terrain in various outdoor conditions
- Strong hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills required
- Must work entirely outdoors in all weather conditions, including sun, rain, cold, and especially extreme Florida heat
- Maintain visual awareness to safely work around moving equipment and provide effective flagging signals
- Good hearing required to recognize alarms, receive verbal instructions, and communicate effectively on a busy job site
Work Environment
- This is a fully outdoor position with constant exposure to all weather elements
- Regular exposure to loud noise, dust, dirt, grease, and active construction equipment
- Work in close proximity to potentially hazardous materials such as form oil, curing agents, fresh concrete, gasoline, and diesel fuel
- Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory at all times
