POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Therapy Services is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Physical Therapy (PT) and Occupational Therapy (OT) departments to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care. This leadership role includes managing departmental budgets, staffing, scheduling, and ensuring compliance with clinical standards and regulatory requirements. The Director will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to promote efficiency, patient satisfaction, and optimal therapeutic outcomes. This role combines clinical duties with leadership, requiring the Director to deliver patient care alongside managing departmental operations.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) approved physical therapy program.
- Current license from the State of Alabama Board of Physical Therapy.
- Knowledge and skills to care for the physical and developmental needs of the population age groups that will be receiving services.
- Ability to remain calm in emergency or crisis situations.
- Provide leadership and direction to a team of licensed professionals within the Therapy Services Department.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data and apply insights to drive operational improvements.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, hands-on physical and/or occupational therapy services to patients as part of a regular clinical caseload.
- Perform patient evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and track progress in alignment with physician recommendations.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory and facility standards.
- Collaborate closely with physicians and other care team members to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
Leadership & Department Management:
- Lead daily operations of the therapy department, including staffing, scheduling, workflow, and patient care coordination.
- Recruit, hire, train, and manage licensed therapists and support staff, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth.
- Ensure the delivery of efficient, evidence-based therapy services that align with the facility's goals and patient satisfaction standards.
- Monitor department productivity, quality outcomes, and compliance with all applicable regulations.
Business & Operational Oversight:
- Manage departmental budget, including expense control, resource allocation, and financial performance tracking.
- Utilize data and performance metrics to drive process improvements and optimize both clinical and operational outcomes.
- Align departmental strategies with the physician ownership group's vision, contributing to growth initiatives and service line development.
- Identify opportunities for service enhancement, referral growth, and collaboration with referring providers.
Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and payer regulations, including billing, documentation, and licensure standards.
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to maintain high standards of care and operational excellence.
- Conduct regular audits, staff evaluations, and training sessions to maintain compliance and support ongoing professional development.
Strategic Planning & Development:
- Participate in long-term planning for growth, service expansion, and program development.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to optimize performance.
- Ensure the department aligns with the organization's mission, values, and strategic goals.
