What are the responsibilities and job description for the Houseman/Housekeeper position at SOUTHERN WINDS HOSPITAL?
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs routine clean up of the patient/public areas of the hospital and keep them in orderly conditions. Duties performed under the direction of the immediate Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Cleans patient rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, offices, and other work areas as directed by Supervisor.
2. Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patient rooms and prepares the room for new occupant; follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms.
3. Removes waste and soiled linens from the work area and places them in specified bags or containers.
4. Sweeps and wet mops floors.
5. Vacuums carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies using a vacuum cleaner.
6. Dusts furniture and equipment.
7. Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors, and walls of bathrooms.
8. Gathers trash and waste, and transports to disposal
9. Replenishes bathroom supplies.
10. Sweep, vacuum, scrub, strip, wax, and buff floors.
11. Knowledge of and ability to operate floor cleaning/buffing equipment.
12. Move and replace furniture; assist others in heavy lifting.
13. Participates in CQI as assigned.
14. May be cross trained in other areas where applicable.
15. May be required to various shifts and/or weekend rotation as the needs of the department dictates.
16. May include overtime.
17. Performs other duties as directed by Supervisor or Director of Housekeeping.
