Job description
SWH is looking for an admission rep to be the first point of contact for hospital patients and will be responsible for guiding them through the admission process. You'll record the patient's health status, payment information, and attending physician and answer hospital-related questions. Additionally, you'll learn hospital service information to help patients better and contribute to the facility's smooth daily operations.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Interview the patient to obtain demographic information and presenting symptoms.
2.Communicates with the attending physician and obtains an order to admit before accepting a case.
3. Explains patients' rights and hospital regulations, such as visiting hours, payment of accounts, and the schedule of charges.
4. Verifies and obtains all authorizations and necessary pre-certifications from insurance companies.
5. Obtains all necessary consent treatment and benefits (assignments)records.
6. Completes financial folders with copies required.
7. Keeps informed of all new registration procedures.
8. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety environmental and infection control standards.
9. Notifies supervisor concerning admissions that do not meet the hospital financial policy criteria.
QUALIFICATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent and some college coursework preferred.
Specific Preparation:
Specific Preparation includes an occupationally significant combination of or essential experience in hospital admission or customer relation, on-the-job training, or equivalent training in the admitting process. Be familiar with medical terminology. Be proficient in using a typewriter and computer for data processing—minimum 1-year experience in a hospital setting.
