**Coordinator of Student Onboarding and Retention**
The Coordinator of Student Onboarding and Retention (SOAR) assists the Director of SOAR with initiatives relating to the onboarding, retention, and eventual graduation of students at Southern Utah University. Of these initiatives, the coordinator is primarily responsible for day-to-day office management of the Nest, SUU's Student Help Center, and assists the Director in helping day-to-day management of SUU's first-year peer mentor program (the Aces).
The Nest serves as a one-stop-shop where SUU students can receive help with Student IDs, class registration, Personalized Visits, and any questions they may have. The Aces, who staff the Nest, offer premier-level peer mentorship to incoming students through ongoing outreach and engagement. The Aces and the Nest play a crucial role in the recent accomplishments related to retention and completion that have garnered national attention for SUU.

**Essential Functions**
- Oversee all functions of The Nest (SUU's walk-in help center), ensuring a positive environment where excellent customer service is provided to all students, staff, faculty, and community members who seek help by being available to work in office as the staff contact point in the Nest anytime classes are in session,overseeing all functions associated with Mobile IDs, and collaborating with other offices to ensure the Nest is up to date on information and advertisement of campus events.
- Under the direction of the Director of Student Onboarding and Retention (SOAR), help lead the Aces, SUU's first-year peer mentoring program, by overseeing team administration in managing the logistics of hiring and onboarding, ensuring that Aces arrive to work on time and stay on-task, approving time, creating meeting agendas, and other related duties. Participate in the planning and implementation of trainings, meetings, and retreats.
- Collaborate with the Director of SOAR to plan and execute initiatives related to onboarding new students, including but not limited to Personalized Visits, Thunder U, online orientation, the development of the new student communication plan, and teaching an extended orientation.
- Assist the Director of SOAR in creating a meaningful experience for Aces by meeting regularly with individual Aces to offer mentorship, discuss their strengths/areas for growth, ensure their well-being both in and out of the classroom, and provide ongoing training.
- Assist in the implementation of retention and persistence initiatives, as needed.
- Other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4 Year / Bachelors degree.
- Able to work in person, on SUU's campus.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with students both in a supervisory capacity and in educating students about student success.
- Demonstrated ability to manage administrative tasks and organized workflows, while simultaneously exemplifying high level customer service.
- Capable of coordinating multiple responsibilities accurately and effe
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Ability to compile, record, and summarize data pertaining to budgets and progress toward performance goals.
- Experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic computer skills.
- 1-2 years of experience with peer mentoring in a higher education setting.
