Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic Service Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in heavy equipment and automotive repair, with a strong background in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, transmissions, and other critical systems. This role involves performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy duty and light duty vehicles.
Duties
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems, and electrical components using schematics and diagnostic tools
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, shocks & struts, wheel alignments, and air brake system inspections
- Fabricate parts or components as needed for equipment repair or customization
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to complete repairs accurately
- Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards during all maintenance activities
- Maintain detailed service records and communicate effectively with customers regarding repair status and recommendations
- Assist in troubleshooting complex mechanical issues using schematics and diagnostic software
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic Service Technician or similar role within a dealership or heavy equipment environment
- Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive diagnostics, vehicle maintenance, transmissions, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and electrical systems
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex systems
- Experience working with farm machinery, industrial equipment, tractor-trailers, or similar vehicles is preferred
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
- Physical ability to perform manual labor including heavy lifting and working in various environmental conditions
- Relevant certifications or training in automotive repair or heavy equipment maintenance is advantageous
