What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Steel Fitter / Fabricator position at SOUTHERN STRUCTURAL STEEL?
Job Description:
We are looking for a motivated, seasoned fitter/fabricator to join our company. As part of our team of professional fabricators, you construct and manufacture structural steel parts using D1.1 code. You will utilize blueprints from a tablet, determine material measurements, layout, fit-up and weld structural steel.
Fabricator Duties and Responsibilities
- Fit structural steel parts in accordance with dimensions given on drawings
- Follow blueprints to ensure exact specifications of output
- Weld flux-core as needed
- Produce code welds
Fabricator Requirements and Qualifications
- Must have experience fitting structural steel in a shop environment
- Familiarity with common welding tools and procedures such as FCAW and GMAW
- Ability to stand and crouch throughout the shift
- Blueprint reading, able to read a measuring tape, and knowledge of common welding symbols, and weld fillet gauge
- Use of Welding Procedure Specification (WPS)
Standard work hours are Monday - Friday 6 am - 2:30pm. Overtime work as needed.
Pay is based on experience.
