Hybrid Medical Assistant / Front Desk Receptionist

Southern Skies Dermatology & Surgery is seeking a dependable, patient-focused Hybrid Front Desk/Medical Assistant to join our team. This role combines front office responsibilities with direct patient care, allowing team members to provide exceptional service throughout the patient experience. Candidates must be flexible, organized, and willing to travel between our Oxford, Gadsden, and Pell City locations as needed.

Travel to Oxford, Gadsden, and Pell City is required. Travel is compensated.

Front Desk Duties

• Greet and check patients in and out
• Verify insurance eligibility and demographic information
• Schedule appointments and manage provider schedules
• Collect copays, balances, and required documentation
• Answer incoming phone calls and assist with patient inquiries
• Scan and upload patient documents into the electronic medical record
• Maintain an organized and welcoming reception area

Medical Assistant Duties

• Room patients and obtain medical history, and medication lists
• Prepare patients for dermatologic examinations and procedures
• Assist physicians and providers during medical and surgical procedures
• Document patient information accurately in the EMR
• Clean, stock, and prepare exam rooms
• Assist with specimen handling and laboratory documentation

Qualifications

• Previous medical office or dermatology experience preferred
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between assigned locations
