Associate Sanitarian

Southern Seven Health Department is seeking applications for a full time position that is based at the Rustic Campus of Shawnee College in Ullin, Illinois. The Associate Sanitarian conducts field and office activities related to Environment Health and Safety programs and prepares reports and presentations related to those activities. Duties include inspection of food service establishments throughout the seven counties.
Qualifications: At a minimum the applicant must have an Associate Degree with 9 hours in science courses; prefer a Bachelor's Degree with at least 30 hours in science courses.
Pay Range: $19.02- 21.97 hourly
Job Duties:
- Conducts assigned food establishment inspections to ensure compliance with the Illinois Food Service Sanitation Code and existing local county food ordinances. Conducts follow-up and reporting as necessary.
- Prepares electronic inspection reports an presents findings to the food establishment, with recommended corrective actions to assure compliance.
- Collects under prescribed methods environmental samples for laboratory analysis to ensure compliance.
- Investigates public complaints regarding environmental health problems and hazards and initiates enforcement or corrective action as required.
- Assists in epidemiological surveys, including but not limited to foodborne illness outbreaks, unhealthy conditions, and methods of control and correction.
- Assists with investigations, follow-up, and resolutions of animal bite complaints.
- Maintains field records, inspections, investigations, and documentation of all work performed.
- Assists with inspections of private, non-community, and geo-thermal well systems.
- Assists with reviewing plans and specifications for proposed private sewage systems.
