What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder - Structural position at Southern Response Services?
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a structural welder or in a similar role
- Proven experience in construction site environments is preferred
- Familiarity with fabrication processes and mechanical knowledge is essential
- Strong understanding of basic math principles for accurate measurements, fitting, fabricating, and assembling structural parts for marine vessels.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints to ensure precision in your work.
- Layout and fit-up of steel plate and beam structures.
- Using a torch to burn and bevel metal components.
- Maintaining fit-up tolerances and working within strict specifications.
- Ensuring quality and safety standards are met across all tasks.
Candidate must be able to pass assessment:
Candidate will test on carbon plates with bevel. Tape weld the first pass then upon approval, a vertical pass and then an overhead pass on the same plate.
Minimum Physical Requirements and Accountability
- Work in high places, tight places, confined spaces and/or other adverse locations.
- Climb, balance, squat, kneel and crouch.
- Work in all types of weather.
- Lift, move, and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
- Working knowledge of all trade materials and tools.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Candidates must provide their own PPE and Tools.
