Southern Power Systems is seeking a driven, organized, and customer-focused Sales Consultant to join our generator division. This role is responsible for reaching out to customers, scheduling site visits, evaluating installation requirements, preparing installation plans, and delivering accurate quotes. The Sales Consultant is a key part of our team, helping customers choose the right standby generator solution for their home or business.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Contact & Appointment Scheduling
- Contact inbound leads from phone calls, website inquiries, and referrals.
- Schedule and confirm on-site appointments with homeowners and business owners.
- Maintain organized communication logs and follow-up reminders.
On-Site Visits & Installation Planning
- Conduct site assessments to determine generator placement, electrical routing, gas line requirements, and overall job scope.
- Take accurate measurements, photos, and detailed notes.
- Create basic installation drawings/plans for the install and electrical teams.
Paperwork, Documentation & CRM Management
- Collect customer information and ensure all paperwork is completed accurately.
- Enter job details, notes, and specs into Jobber (or company CRM).
- Keep customer files organized and up to date.
Quoting & Pricing
- Prepare and send detailed quotes based on generator size, materials, labor, and installation requirements.
- Provide accurate pricing, financing options, add-on services, and maintenance plans.
- Communicate clearly with the office, technicians, and installation crews about job details.
Customer Service & Follow-Up
- Offer outstanding communication before, during, and after the quoting process.
- Answer customer questions regarding generator options, timelines, permits, and maintenance plans.
- Follow up on pending quotes, approvals, or any missing customer information.
Requirements
- Drug-free; must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug screenings.
- Must pass a background check (criminal history & employment verification).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Company vehicle will be provided for sales appointments and site visits (safe and responsible driving required).
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Basic understanding of electrical, HVAC, or mechanical systems is a plus (training provided).
- Ability to lift 25–50 lbs and walk outdoor job sites as needed.
