Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, customer-focused, and organized Store Operations Specialist to join our team. In this dual-focus role, you will serve as a critical bridge between our back-of-house logistics and front-of-house sales. You will assist everyday retail DIYers, build accurate project quotes for professional landscape contractors, and maintain tight control over our inventory. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Contractor & Retail Customer Service
Project Quoting: Review material needs with landscape contractors and generate accurate cost estimates and quotes.
Account Management: Maintain positive, long-term relationships with commercial clients and handle bulk orders.
Retail Assistance: Provide expert advice to retail customers regarding landscaping tools, hardware, and materials.
Point of Sale: Efficiently process transactions, returns, and commercial account charges.
Inventory & Logistics Control
Stock Management: Monitor inventory levels, perform regular cycle counts, and report discrepancies.
Receiving Freight: Unload incoming shipments, verify packing slips against physical inventory, and stock shelves.
Merchandising: Ensure the sales floor and yard are organized, clean, safely stacked, and properly priced.
Physical & Safety Operations
Heavy Lifting: Frequently lift, carry, and move items weighing between 50 and 80 lbs (e.g., soil bags, pavers, bulk hardware).
Equipment Handling: Safely operate store equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks, or loader) to move heavy freight.
Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean, hazard-free shopping and loading environment for customers and staff.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience: 1–2 years of experience in hardware, landscaping supply, agricultural fencing, or a building materials retail environment preferred.
Physical Fitness: Ability to lift up to 80 lbs regularly and stand/walk for extended periods on concrete or outdoor surfaces.
Math & Tech Literacy: Strong basic math skills for calculating material quantities and quotes. Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) and inventory software.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to comfortably pivot between casual retail shoppers and fast-paced commercial contractors
