Essential Functions of the Job
Job Title: IT Support Specialist
Pay: $22 - $30
Job Type: Full-time (8 hours per day)
Work Location: On-site// ORTHOPEDIC OUTPATIENT CENTER
Departments: Supports all departments within the surgery center and assists other organizational locations when needed
Reports To: IT Manager
Summary
The surgery center IT Support Specialist provides dedicated on-site technical support for the organization’s surgery center. This role ensures that operating rooms, clinical systems, and facility technology remain operational throughout the surgical day.
The specialist works closely with clinical staff to quickly resolve technical issues that could impact surgical workflows, patient care, or daily operations. Responsibilities include supporting clinical workstations, medical device connectivity, imaging systems, communication systems, and other technology used throughout the facility.
This position serves as the primary IT support presence within the surgery center and works in coordination with the IT Manager and IT team to maintain reliable technology operations across the organization. While stationed at the surgery center, this role remains an active member of the IT team and will assist with remote support requests across the organization when clinical operations allow.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Provide on-site technical support for the surgery center, responding quickly to technology issues affecting operating rooms, clinical staff, and facility operations.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, operating systems, and network connectivity issues involving clinical workstations, mobile devices, printers, and other technology used throughout the facility.
- Provide support for healthcare systems including electronic medical records and imaging systems.
- Assist with troubleshooting and maintaining connectivity for clinical equipment such as imaging devices, patient monitoring equipment, dictation systems, and other medical technology.
- Support facility technology including badge readers, paging systems, patient monitors, display boards, and security camera connectivity.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain workstations, printers, and other IT equipment throughout the surgery center.
- Coordinate with vendors and external support providers when specialized support is required.
- Escalate complex infrastructure or system issues to senior IT staff when appropriate.
- Document support requests, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in the IT ticketing system.
- Assist with installation and basic configuration of network-connected devices and equipment.
- Support IT projects such as technology deployments, system upgrades, and infrastructure improvements when needed.
- Maintain accurate inventory records for IT equipment and technology assets located within the surgery center.
- Assist other IT team members by providing remote support for organizational systems and users at other locations when surgery center operations allow.
- Work within clinical environments and follow surgical facility protocols when entering restricted or sterile areas, including wearing appropriate protective attire when required.

Qualifications
Customer Service and Communication
- Demonstrates strong customer service skills when assisting employees with technical issues.
- Communicates technical information clearly to users with varying levels of technical experience.
- Maintains a professional, patient, and service-oriented approach when troubleshooting user concerns.
- Works collaboratively with IT team members and other departments to resolve issues.
Education and/or Experience
- 1-3 years of experience in IT support, help desk, or related technical support role preferred.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
- Experience supporting healthcare environments, medical systems, or clinical technology is a plus.
- Relevant technical certifications such as CompTIA A , Network , or similar certifications are beneficial but not required.
Technical Skills
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to technology issues in time-sensitive surgical environments.
- Knowledge of computer hardware, Windows operating systems, and common business software.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Active Directory environments.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
- Ability to manage multiple support requests and prioritize issues in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information.
