Peachtree Café Front-end Clerk works face to face with customers - includes cash and credit card transactions, and balancing the register at the end of the shift. Must be competent with computerized register system and have good cash handling skills. Must have cashier experience and be professional, polite, and reliable.
Workers must be able to withstand the pressure and strain of working in close quarters, standing for hours at a time. Must have knowledge of basic math skills and ability to interact with customers. Good customer service and a cheerful, pleasant demeanor are important. Clerk takes and fills customer order, rings it up on the cash register and accepts payment (credit cards, cash & makes change). Responsible for money in register & must account for it at the end of shift. Clerk is expected to keep working area neat and tidy. Encourage customers to purchase fried pies/desserts displayed at the counter and keep the cases stocked and clean.
Cafe Clerk Job Duties
- Be proactive in counting money before a shift begins so that there is no miscalculation at the end of the shift.
- Greet and welcome customers entering the restaurant.
- Resolve different types of complaints from customers or address them to the restaurant manager.
- Pack merchandise, gifts, take home packages for customers.
- Answer questions of customers and inform about policies, rules of the restaurant, etc.
- Stock shelves, keep a note of stock that are low
- Be alert as well as cordial all the time.
- Must be apt in handling money, currencies and coins.
Educational Qualifications and Skills Required
- Good in basic mathematics.
- Must have the ability to do repetitive work without any errors.
- Must be able to maintain records regarding transactions on computers.
- Must have basic computer awareness.
- Must have excellent inter-personal and people skills.
- Must deal with customers politely.
- Must have neat appearance.
- Integrity, honesty and accountability.
- Must be ready to work varied hours/days and sometimes even on weekends.
- Must have the ability to read and write
