Department: Facilities
Shift/schedule: Full Time (40 hrs/wk)
GENERAL SUMMARY
Works under the supervision of the Manager of Construction and Renovation. The Facilities Technician's primary job function is to make minor building modifications and/or improvements (i.e. add a door, move a wall, paint, etc). This may include repairing and/or maintaining hospital building using hand and power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments while following all safety precautions. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required
- Certificate of completion of vocational training in carpentry or related field preferred
Licensure:
- BMVL required (Must maintain eligibility to drive as determined by SOMC's insurance carriers)
- BLS Certification within the first year of employment required
- NFPA 70E (Low Voltage) Certification within 6 months of hire required
Experience:
- Work related experience required
- One year progressively more responsible related work experience necessary in order to gain knowledge of general construction trades and carpentry skills preferred.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

1. Performs carpentry installations (cabinets/shelving/furniture repair).
2. Performs architectural installation/repair (flooring/painting/dry-walling/wall covering).
3. Follows all OSHA guidelines.
4. Communicates to all departments impacted by their work projects.
5. Performs and/or assists in constructing of temporary barriers to control dust/infection control measures.
6. Keeps all surplus material storage areas clean and organized.
7. Utilizes work order system.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
