Title: Intervention Specialist
Reports To: Superintendent or designee
Employment Status: Full-time
FLSA Status: Exempt
Per salary Schedule A, unless otherwise determined by the Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree.
Valid Ohio K-12 Intervention Specialist Teaching license.
Must be credentialed as highly qualified in core subject areas assigned.
Must pass a criminal background check.
Current driver’s license and reliable transportation.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under general supervision, assesses and evaluates developmental levels of students; plans and implements Individual Education Plans; provides appropriate instruction and personal care for assigned students; works collaboratively with paraprofessionals and other staff; communicates effectively with families; prepares and maintains required reports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Comprehension of Google Suite applications.
Gathers data to evaluate and assess students to determine functional and developmental needs and develops an Individual Education Plan(s) based on the evaluation and assessment.
Follows and utilizes Individual Educational Plans for those students identified and assigned for instruction.
Provides intervention for those students who have been identified as requiring special needs (e.g., physical, emotional, academic, etc.).
Provides instruction to assigned students utilizing teaching strategies and techniques and motivational techniques to present planned daily lessons.
Prepares daily lesson plans which incorporate supplemental instructional materials, audio and visual aids, critical thinking skills, etc.
Supervises students at all times to ensure safety.
Evaluates students through the utilization of teacher made tests, standardized tests and observations (e.g., academic, social, personal, motor, etc.). Perform alternative assessments.
Performs required supplemental duties (e.g., takes attendance, grade card reporting, interim reports, state reports, maintains records, emergency medical forms, insurance forms, fee collections, student’s cumulative folder, bulletin board, etc.).
Schedules and confers with parents regularly.
Confers with school personnel (e.g., principal, teachers, counselor, psychologist, supervisors, transportation supervisor, etc.).
Inventories assigned facility areas and provide inventory data.
Requisitions supplies, instructional material, and equipment.
Participates, cooperates, and helps supervise emergency preparedness drills (e.g., tornado, fire, lockdown, etc.).
Supervises Teacher Assistants.
Sets-up and cleans up the educational environment in cooperation with the building custodian.
Monitor safety issues (e.g., disease control/sanitation, child abuse, child injury prevention, etc.) and may perform delegated nursing duties.
Provides for and assists with personal care of children (e.g., toileting, diapering, coats, book bags, etc.).
Assists with lifting, moving, and physical management of students (e.g., lifts and moves up to eighty [80] pounds).
Makes periodic home visits with the supervisor/administrator.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Maintains positive working relationships with school personnel, parents, and outside agencies.
Create a nurturing environment that promotes learning.
Acts as a team player and maintains confidentiality.
Provides opportunities for parent involvement.
Attends workshops, in-services, training, and takes additional professionally related classes.
Performs all duties in conformity to the adopted Vision and Mission statements.
Displays professional appearance.
Maintains required certificate(s) and/or license(s).
Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
Safeguards confidentiality of privileged information.
Fully understands and abides by the Ohio Revised Codes regulations for reporting child abuse and/or neglect.
Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge of: Board policies and procedures; building policies and procedures; state classroom operating standards; teaching methods and techniques; lesson plans; educational equipment and aids; principles of behavior management; public relations; evaluation instruments; individualized educational plans; required reports; parent conferencing techniques; supervision, developmental curriculum, assistive technology devices, collaboration with other educational professionals, records retention manual.
Skills in: use of computer; audio visual equipment; communication devices.
Ability to: interpret policies, procedures, and regulations; teach and train; utilize teaching tools and resources; develop lesson plans; communicate effectively; evaluate students through various testing devices and assessments; develop individualized education plans; prepare reports; maintain files; utilize special personnel; manage class time; maintain confidentiality; lift/move up to 80 pounds.

Computer, audio visual, communication devices, copier, laminator, and assistive technology.
