- Compiling and coordinating annual O&M budget and ensuring the budget is prepared and completed in accordance with SNC's goals
- Compiling and reporting monthly analysis of actual-to-projection data and end-of-year projections, along with monthly close-out duties
- This position is also responsible for effective communication of budgets, projections, initiatives, and results to management
- This position interacts regularly with management and department leads regarding budget and financial issues, placing emphasis on sound internal controls
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (required)
- CPA, MBA, or advanced degree in a related field (preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in financial/accounting disciplines including planning, analysis, and budgeting
- 3 years of experience preferred
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience in operational accounting, budgeting, and cost control (nuclear generation, transmission, distribution, manufacturing is a plus)
- Familiarity with utility accounting and FERC requirements (preferred)
- Understanding of Southern Company’s business model and Alabama Power/Georgia Power ratemaking mechanisms (a plus)
- Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
