LPN/RN- Pediatrics and Specialty

Position Summary
The LPN/RN provides compassionate, patient-centered nursing care in a fast-paced multispecialty and pediatric outpatient practice. Responsibilities include performing clinical assessments and triage, assisting providers with examinations and procedures, coordinating patient care, administering medications and immunizations, educating patients and families, and ensuring high-quality clinical care while promoting patient safety and satisfaction.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform telephone and in-person triage, assessing patient symptoms and determining the appropriate level of care using established clinical protocols and nursing judgment.
• Prioritize urgent patient concerns and communicate findings to providers for timely intervention.
• Room patients, obtain vital signs, medical histories, and document findings accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Perform focused nursing assessments and identify changes in patient condition.
• Administer medications, immunizations, injections, and treatments as ordered by providers.
• Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with examinations and procedures.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, preventive care, immunization schedules, and follow-up care.
• Respond to patient phone calls, electronic portal messages, prescription refill requests, and clinical questions within scope of practice.
• Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, prior authorizations, and continuity of care.
• Maintain exam rooms, vaccine inventory, medical supplies, emergency equipment, and infection control standards.
• Collaborate with providers and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure quality patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EHR.
• Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention, and organizational policies and procedures.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing staff education.

Qualifications

LPN

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Previous pediatric, family medicine, or ambulatory care experience preferred.

RN

• Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Previous pediatric, family medicine, or ambulatory care experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong clinical assessment and triage skills.
• Ability to recognize urgent and emergent conditions and escalate care appropriately.
• Excellent communication and patient education skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR).
• Knowledge of pediatric growth and development, immunization guidelines, and preventive care.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with providers and the healthcare team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in outpatient multispecialty and pediatric practice.
• Experience with telephone triage and nurse advice protocols.
• Experience with vaccine administration and management.
