What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Paraprofessional position at Southern Minnesota Education Consortium?

SMEC is a cooperative of rural school districts working collaboratively to support the needs of all learners. We are looking to fill multiple positions across the consortium with paraprofessional support. This is a year-round position.
Duties:
- Assist in implementing behavior management strategies for children with special needs
- Provide support and assistance to children in a classroom setting
- Help create and implement curriculum development activities for students
- Support the lead teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for children with autism or other special needs
- Assist with daily routines, including mealtime, dressing, and toileting
- Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the classroom
Skills:
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Patience and understanding when working with children with special needs
- Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with a team
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies
- Familiarity with curriculum development for school-aged children
- Experience working in a school or childcare facility preferred

Pay: $16.79 - $22.65 per hour
