Southern Freight Lines, a company within the Southern family, is expanding its Owner Operator network and is seeking professional, safety-focused drivers who want consistent freight, fair compensation, and a long-term partnership.
Freight Profile
We operate primarily in a general freight setting hauling:
- Structural steel
- Precast concrete panels
- Building materials
- Crane parts and components
Most work is up to 3-axle step deck. Oversize experience is strongly preferred.
Typical freight includes:
- Concrete panels 12–13 feet wide
- Structural beams up to 80 feet long
This is professional freight requiring drivers who understand securement, weight distribution, route awareness, and oversize compliance.
Operating Lanes
- Primarily regional work within TX, OK, LA, and AR
- High-volume customer concentration in DFW, San Antonio, and east Texas
Schedule
- 14 days on / 3 days off
- Regional runs with consistent freight flow
Equipment
- Step deck freight (up to 3 axle work)
- Trailer not required
- Many customers preload on their own trailers
- Company trailers available in rotation
Support
- Dedicated dispatch and operations support
- Back-office billing and compliance assistance
- Established freight network with repeat customers
- No unnecessary micromanagement
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL
- Minimum 3 years verifiable CDL experience
- No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years
- Comfortable hauling oversized loads
- Strong safety record
- Ability to operate in compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations
- Professional communication and customer-focused mindset
