Term/Hours: 2023-2024 School Year / Part-Time Substitute Instructional Assistant (3-6 hours per day)
Location: High School (grades 9-12), Middle School (grades 7 & 8), Intermediate School (grades 4-6), Elementary Schools (K-3)
Pay: $17.80 per hour

Purpose/Objective
An Instructional Assistant supports and assists the academic or physical needs of students with special needs in instructional programs and services. The support and assistance includes one-on-one or group review of material taught by certificated staff,
classroom management and implementation of positive behavior support plans.

- Associate Degree or at least two years of post secondary study (completion of 60 credits) or
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent and the presentation of a “Credential of Competency" for Special Education Paraeducators in Pennsylvania as issued by PDE

- PA Child Abuse History (must be within the past year)
- PA State Criminal History Check (must be within the past year)
- Federal Criminal History Record (must be within the past year)
- A TB skin test or IGRA (interferon-gamma release assay) blood test used in the detecting of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (must be within the past three months)

- Ability to build and maintain working relationships and positive rapport with students, staff, parents and administrators.
- Ability to organize and plan effectively.
- Ability to carry out assigned tasks with limited supervision.
- Understand and comply with confidentiality protocols.
- Understanding of diversity as related to disability, learning styles, and cultures.
- Understanding learning environments and social interactions.
- Assist with an individual student or groups of students as required by the IEP or the School District to reinforce educational skill development including but not limited to academic content areas and/or daily living skills.
- Provide a safe, secure and positive educational environment through appropriate student supervision and intervention.
- Use strategies and follow protocols for behavior management to meet the unique needs of each individual student as required by IEP and/or Employer.

- Ability to lift, position, transport and maneuver students as needed.
- Ability to physically restrain students in accordance with District protocols.
