Note: There are multiple positions available.

The Office of Innovation and Economic Development is SIU’s primary outreach arm to the region, offering business development, workforce innovation, economic development, and community engagement services and activities throughout Southern Illinois.

This position provides direct support to the Program Director and Coordinators in the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA) promoting clean energy businesses in IL grant-funded programs within the SIU Office of Innovation and Economic Development (OIED) department in conjunction with and under the direction of the CEJA Program Director.

Examples of Duties

This position supports the CEJA Program Director and Coordinators providing front-line management, participant intake, clerical assistance, and program logistics.

Pending ongoing grant funding, duties for this position include:
1.) Provide front-line management of public office, and perform in-take for new CEJA program participants, interview and assess the needs of clients who are enrolled in or referred to the program;

2.) Duties may also include providing clerical support to Program Director, and other program staff, serve as a staff advisor and perform professional support tasks such as: general program support, research, assisting participants' appointments with Experts-In-Residence; arrange travel and meeting registrations, assist with participant supportive services and resources;

3.) Duties may also include marketing, training, and Expert-In-Residence assistance; work with the Program Director and Coordinators to schedule training, outreach, and engagement event logistics; prepare training and marketing materials; collect RSVPs; confirm final program event details;

4.) Assist in developing materials and techniques for training program staff in program design, philosophy, CEJA program policies, and standard operating procedures based on CEJA program guidelines;

5.) Assist in the coordination of logistics and activities for CEJA program events;

6.) Compile CEJA data and information, evaluate, and summarize findings;

7.) Scheduling meetings with advisors and clients, assign, review and/or provide recommendations regarding work within the program;

8.) Open and close office area suite;

9.) Assist in management of office and program supplies, assist in annual OIED inventory of program specific items;

10.) Some in-state travel for networking and matchmaking events required, as needed.

11.) Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • One (1) year of customer service or business office experience.
  • Valid driver's license.

Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.

About Civil Service Examination/Testing: The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of application materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, your application will move forward for examination/testing in which you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. This score will be emailed to the email address noted on your application. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview.
