What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cannabis Packaging Associate position at Southern Herb Company?

Position Summary:

This role is responsible for performing all required duties, as assigned, in the Post-Production Department at our cannabis facility. This role is responsible for the handling and packaging of manufactured products and for ensuring that all product labels are accurately placed compliantly with state regulations, and internal policies and SOPs.

The Cannabis Packaging Associate also maintains cleanliness and organization of all areas, and all equipment present within their work area.

Essential tasks include:

  • Trim/prune finished cannabis flowers
  • Meticulously weigh, measure, sort, label, and package cannabis products such as:
  • Concentrates, oil cartridges, topicals, tinctures, edibles, and pre-rolls for retail sales.
  • Apply labels compliantly and in accordance with product information, test results, and
  • other required information.
  • Maintain effective communication with co-workers and management.
  • Assemble, line, and Pad boxes as required for finished product storage and dispatch.
  • Effectively manage time to avoid backtracking and delay of tasks
  • Accurately measure, weigh, place, scoop, and fill product into containers, using hand tools and equipment. others.
  • Regular attendance and timeliness.
  • Keep work area safe, tidy, clean, and sanitary throughout daily operations following SOP.
  • Assist in the loading, unloading, and inventory of cannabis packaging, supplies, and materials.
  • Maintain quality control by visually inspecting cannabis products and packaging to ensure consistency in product standards; ensuring labeling and product counts are accurate.
  • Weigh and process waste material in accordance with regulations , and company policies and procedures.
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly audits of packaging supplies as directed.
  • Help create a positive environment by having a positive attitude and being self-motivated.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or otherwise identified.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform the following physical tasks on a daily basis: sitting, standing, stooping, stretching, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, lifting, squatting, performing repetitive motions, climbing, and unloading orders.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to stand/walk on concrete floor for up to 8 to 10 hours a day

Required Education/ Experience:

  • Must be at least 21 years old, and able to pass the background check required by the Mississippi State Department of Health.
  • Prior to the first day of work employee must have a Work Permit granted by the MSDH. For more information on this process go to https://msdh.ms.gov/page/resources/19114.pdf
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Cannabis preferred
  • Any agricultural experience is a bonus
  • Experience in a kitchen, manufacturing, or in agriculture is a plus!

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift- 8:30am to 5:30pm (Full time)

  • Meridian, MS 39301: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
