What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse (Hematology & Oncology) position at Southern Hematology and Oncology, P.C.?
This is a private hematology and oncology outpatient clinic and infusion center in the Brookwood Medical Center hospital complex. There are two physicians and 5 nurses. The nurses mainly administer & mix medications. Some rotate for a week as "telenurses" or as lab nurses. Shifts are Monday through Thursday for up to ten hours, generally. There are paid holidays, and PTO is 120-160 hours/year. A bonus is typically paid at the end of the year which adds $1.75/hour to the base salary. The profit sharing pension plan adds 5% to the employee's salary, paid by the practice, to be added to their account. Individual medical insurance with a very good BC/BS plan is provided. Lunch is often catered. The schedule is Monday-Thursday with a half day on Friday once every 5 weeks..
The nurses form a tight-knit group that runs cooperatively rather than under a manager. They have a lot of "heart" and skilled hands. Chemocertification, while desirable, is not required. Experience in infusion clinic setting is preferred.
