Southern Health Partners (SHP) is seeking a Medical Director to provide clinical oversight and primary care services at the Morgan County Jail in AL . This role offers a meaningful opportunity to support an underserved patient population while working alongside an experienced on-site nursing team in a secure, structured environment.
This position is ideal for a licensed provider seeking flexibility, autonomy, and purpose with a minimal weekly time commitment.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct scheduled on-site visits to evaluate patients and provide medical care
Review and sign clinical documentation, orders, and treatment plans
Provide guidance and clinical support to on-site nursing staff
Prescribe medications and coordinate referrals to outside providers as needed
Offer limited on-call support to the medical team
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional and facility standards
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Licensed MD, PA, or NP in the state of Alabama
Nurse Practitioners must have a collaborating physician
Primary care or correctional healthcare experience preferred
Ability to pass background check and obtain facility clearance
