Southern Health Partners is seeking an experienced Psychiatric Registered Nurse (Psych RN) to join our healthcare team at the Madison County Jail.

This is an opportunity to use your mental health nursing expertise in a structured, secure healthcare environment where your assessment skills, clinical judgment, and ability to connect with patients can make a meaningful difference.

You'll work with patients who may have a variety of behavioral health needs, providing assessment, ongoing support, nursing interventions, and collaboration with the broader healthcare team.

Psychiatric or mental health nursing experience is required for this position.

🧠 What You'll Do

• Perform mental health assessments, screenings, and ongoing nursing assessments
• Monitor patients for changes in mental and behavioral health status
• Provide nursing interventions and support individualized treatment plans
• Monitor patient progress and response to treatment
• Assist with behavioral health crisis intervention and stabilization when needed
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the appropriate members of the healthcare team
• Provide patient education and support related to mental health and wellness
• Collaborate with medical, mental health, and correctional staff
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation
• Follow established healthcare protocols and facility guidelines
• Provide compassionate, professional care while maintaining appropriate clinical boundaries

🧠 Qualifications

• Current, valid Registered Nurse license
• Psychiatric or mental health nursing experience required
• Strong assessment and clinical judgment skills
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities
• Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to changes in mental health status
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Professional, compassionate approach to patient care
• Ability to successfully complete facility credentialing requirements
• Correctional healthcare experience is helpful, but not required
